In this session we'll hear from Australian producers who have successfully sold their content globally and from international agents about what they're looking for. We'll learn about what works and what doesn't for major territories, as well as strategies to develop film and TV content that attract global interest and how to build relationships at an international level.

Rob Gibson

Rob Gibson is CEO/Producer at Easy Tiger Productions, with producing credits including AACTA award winning Foxtel courtroom drama The Twelve, the Binge and CBS Studios international comedy sensation Colin From Accounts, Jack Irish, Doctor Doctor and Lindy Chamberlain: The True Story. He has also produced drama series for both Paramount+ and Stan, which are due to be released this year.

Prior to joining Easy Tiger, Rob was the Head of Originals at Stan, where he was responsible for Stan’s defining successes and award-winning, critically-acclaimed originals No Activity, Wolf Creek, Bloom, The Other Guy, Romper Stomper among others. Rob previously worked as a film and television producer both in the US and Australia, and was formerly a media and entertainment lawyer, working for Allens Linklaters, Foxtel, Festival Records and Fairfax Media.

Ian Collie

Ian Collie is one of Australia’s most experienced producers and the founder of Easy Tiger Productions. He is currently in post-production for a Paramount+ drama starring Jodie Whittaker, Yael Stone and Nicole da Silva, and another for Stan directed by Greg McLean. Ian’s other credits include the AACTA award winning Foxtel drama The Twelve, Binge comedy Colin From Accounts, the iconic ABC comedy Rake (five seasons with ABC TV), and Nine’s Doctor Doctor (aka THE HEART GUY, five seasons). He has produced two series and three telemovies of the crime drama Jack Irish, and the telemovie The Broken Shore, all based on the award winning novels of Peter Temple. Ian is also the producer of SBS dramas Sunshine and The Principal and ABC TV telefeature Hell Has Harbour Views. He was nominated for a PGA Award for his work producing the Disney feature film Saving Mr Banks starring Emma Thompson and Tom Hanks.

Ian is the producer of the factual series Lindy Chamberlain: True Story and the forthcoming The Hunt For The Family Court Killer both for Network Ten.

Marion Farrelly

Marion ‘Maz’ Farrelly, The CEO Whisperer, Speaker, Consultant, TV and Film Producer and Creative Strategist. If you’ve watched it, Maz probably made it and won an international award for it – the biggest brands in the world with the biggest teams, budgets and stars. She’s produced shows in London, LA and Australia – shows like Big Brother, Dancing With The Stars, The X Factor, The Celebrity Apprentice and she co-created Q&A for the ABC. Maz has spent decades at the pointy end of the media and is a regular guest on podcasts and TV shows which are then picked up by the international press. Maz started her career as a magazine journalist and stylist in London, has been executive editor of Format Entertainment at the BBC UK London, Director of Television Content, Fremantle Media Australia & Creative Strategist for BBCWorld-Wide. Maz now runs Maz Speaks, a company which does one thing – makes sure you get attention for all the right reasons. Maz believes all business is show business, and to cut through in this listening-deficient society, you have to nail your first minute – nail that and you’re in business – literally.

Steve Oemcke

Steve Oemcke has worked in the content industry for more than 30 years, beginning as a journalist and news reporter, before going on to present and host countless TV programs including ratings juggernaut Talk To The Animals, and Australia’s longest running game show Wheel Of Fortune. Twenty years ago, Steve co-founded highly regarded independent Australian production company WTFN, alongside industry stalwart Daryl Talbot. Known for its out-of-the-box thinking, WTFN had originated more than 60 series in that time.

The company prides itself on mentoring new talent, with a reputation as a breeding ground for some of Australia’s most talented young content creators.

Jodi Matterson

Jodi Matterson serves as Managing Director of Australia, partner and producer of Made Up Stories.

Jodi recently produced THE LOST FLOWERS OF ALICE HART starring Sigourney Weaver for Amazon which set the record for the most watched Australian streaming series worldwide climbing to the top three in 42 countries and the top five in a further 78 countries and STRIFE starring Asher Keddie for Foxtel Binge which as officially become its biggest original launch ever.

Seasons 1 & 2 of the genre-bending romantic comedy WOLF LIKE ME for Peacock starring Isla Fisher, Josh Gad and Edgar Ramirez, ROAR starring Nicole Kidman and Judy Davis for Apple, NINE PERFECT STRANGERS, starring Nicole Kidman and Melissa McCarthy for Hulu which has been their most watched original series of all time, THE DRY, from director Robert Connolly and starring Eric Bana which has broken records at the Australian box office, as well as the film adaptation of the international best-seller, PENGUIN BLOOM, starring Naomi Watts, which premiered at the 2020 Toronto International Film Festival and released by Netflix.

In 2018, Jodi produced Abe Forsythe’s LITTLE MONSTERS starring Oscar winner Lupita Nyong’o, which premiered at the Sundance Film Festival in 2019 and was distributed by Neon and Hulu.

Upcoming film projects releasing in 2024 include: FORCE OF NATURE, the sequel to the feature film THE DRY with Eric Bana reprising his role as Aaron Falk and ADDITION based on the novel by Toni Jordan starring Teresa Palmer and Joe Dempsie.

Jodi is currently in production on THE LAST ANNIVERSARY, based on the book by Liane Moriarty, starring Teresa Palmer, Miranda Richardson and Danielle Macdonald for Binge, BBC and Sundance Channel, along with the second series of NINE PERFECT STRANGERS for Hulu starring Nicole Kidman, Christine Baranski and Annie Murphy.

Prior to Made Up Stories, Jodi produced her first film THUNDERSTRUCK in 2003 with director, Darren Ashton, starring Sam Worthington. Her second film RAZZLE DAZZLE screened at more than 20 international film festivals including Berlin.
