Matt Carroll
Trained as an architect, Matt began his screen career working on productions Skippy, Spyforce and Shirly Thompson v The Aliens while still completing university. He quickly moved on to his first significant producing credit on Sunday Too Far Away at the South Australian Film Corporation, which premiered at the Cannes Film Festival and won The Golden Reel at the 1974-1975 Australian Film Awards. He followed up with the Australian classics, Storm Boy, Money Movers, The Club and Breaker Morant, all pictures that are still revered both here and internationally now.
Later, he moved into television, producing G.P., which gave Matt a chance to pursue his passion for social issues, and the show won a human rights award for an AIDS-related episode. He also produced Brides of Christ, Farscape, The Postcard Bandit, Murder in the Outback, Turtle Beach, The Marine and many others.
Later, he decided to utilise his vast skills and experience to help sustain and assist the industry he worked so hard to help build. He decided the place he could do that best was in his home state of NSW, and he took on a role at Screen NSW- the Destination Attraction team has helped productions with finance, logistics, locations and almost every other facet of screen production. Hacksaw Ridge, Animal Kingdom, Peter Rabbit 1 and 2, Furiosa, Shang-Chi Legend of the Ten Rings, Alien: Covenant, and The Invisible Man were all made at Matt’s hard work and that of his team.
