Join Australian animators Daniel Pozo and Thomas Thistlethwaite for a behind-the-scenes look at the making of the groundbreaking film Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse. These talented local artists will provide detailed insight on how the artists at Sony Pictures Imageworks and Sony Pictures Animation collaborated to bring one of 2023’s biggest movies to the screen.
This journey through the Spider-Verse will explore everything from the references and aspirations that inspired the distinct visual styles of the movie to the innovation and techniques that it took to achieve the final imagery.

Thomas Thistlethwaite
Thomas Thistlethwaite previously served as an animator at Sony Pictures Imageworks, most recently completing work on the animated blockbuster Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse.
His additional Imageworks credits include: the animated short The Spider Within: A Spider-Verse Story, The Sea Beast and Hotel Transylvania: Transformania.
Thomas is currently working as an animator at Digital Domain. He has also held animation roles at ICON Creative Studio, Bardel Entertainment, and Atomic Cartoons.
He is a graduate of Vancouver Film School and Curtin University.
Daniel Pozo
Daniel Pozo is a Head of Character Animation at Sony Pictures Imageworks, currently working on a yet to be announced project. He most recently served as Supervising Animator on the visually groundbreaking Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse.
His Imageworks credits also include: Hotel Transylvania: Transformania, Vivo, the Academy Award®-nominated Over The Moon, The Angry Birds Movie and The Angry Birds Movie 2, Smallfoot and Storks.
Pozo previously served in animation roles at Mikros Animation, Double Negative, Framestore, and Animal Logic.
He received a diploma in 3D animation from the Computer Graphics College Sydney.
